About Me
Hi, I’m Konrad Daykin, a 17 year old wildlife photographer from Guernsey. I’ve been taking photos of wild animals since I was around 6 years old but only really started getting into it after visiting a lake in France and taking a few photos of various birds, plants and landscapes in 2020. When I got back from that trip I was given my first camera and lens, a Fujifilm S5 Pro and a Tamron 200-500 which is ironically the only camera to have won me an award so far.
When photographing wildlife I try to use a wide range of photographing techniques such as negative space, high-key and subject isolation. My work is driven by simplicity, clean compositions, soft light, and an emphasis on detail. I’m drawn to both intimate close-ups and more minimal, fine art scenes, aiming to highlight the subtle beauty often overlooked in everyday encounters with nature.
After going out a few times photographing with my dad I realised I was hooked and kept improving my technique and field craft until upgrading to a Nikon D800, this allowed me to take photos at a higher resolution and improve my photography further. However, in 2024 I brought a Nikon D500 with a Nikon 200-500mm lens. This changed everything, I was able to capture photos double the resolution of the D800 and quadruple the resolution of the S5 Pro whilst taking even sharper photos.

Wildlife Photography Locations - Guernsey
This interactive map highlights a curated selection of my favourite wildlife photography locations across Guernsey. Each pin represents a place I’ve personally explored and found to offer consistent opportunities for capturing birds and other wildlife in natural settings.
From the rugged west coast and its tidal zones to quieter inland areas and sheltered bays, these locations showcase the island’s incredible variety of habitats. Many of these spots are ideal for observing species such as waders, raptors, and coastal birds, particularly during changing tides and seasonal migrations.
The map is designed not just as a visual guide, but as a reflection of where much of my work is created. It gives insight into the environments behind my images and the conditions that shape them—whether that’s early morning light over still water, dramatic coastal weather, or the subtle details found in less obvious locations.
